Sedona!

We always enjoy the annual
Sedona Plein Air Festival, which is coming up next month, October 10-25. This is its tenth year, and thirty artists, including Carl Ortman (image shown above) will be participating in the fun. There will be paint-outs, presentations, a trip to the historic mining town of Jerome, a quick draw at Alcantara Vineyards and lots of valuable
plein air workshops with well-known artists from all around the U.S.

The landscape is beyond spectacular, the weather is mild, and the light is brilliant. Thank you to Michael Chesley Johnson for this photo (above), which shows his easel alongside Scott Gellatly from Gamblin Artists Colors. Scott will give a free presentation on the history of pigment, paint and color space, in addition to his workshop. The Keynote Speaker will be veteran plein air artist Jim McVicker from the Oregon Coast.

They even have a bronze sculpture of a plein air painter downtown.
