California artist
Anne Ward is interested in capturing quiet spaces and the light that envelopes them. Shown above is a 24"x30" painting of Great Spruce Head Island in Maine, where she and her husband, artist
Ian Roberts, were privileged to stay and paint at the home of Fairfield Porter.
"
Fairfield Porter passed away in 1975 but the family home on Great Spruce Head Island in Maine remains virtually untouched by time. Bowls that he used in his still life paintings are still in use, postcards pinned to the wall are still there, the dictionary in one of my favorite of his paintings 'Interior with a Dress Pattern' still rests on the same table."

She is in the current exhibit at the
Marcia Burtt Gallery entitled
Great and Small.
She decided to pursue painting after working for writer/director Lawrence Kasdan on several films. It was while living in France that Anne discovered the thrill of painting outdoors. Though primarily self taught, she has also studied with painters Joseph Mendez and Daniel Pinkham.

Shown at left is a 12"x12" painting,
Radishes in Sunlight. Below is an 8"x8" still life entitled
Sunrise.
Anne is an Artist Member of the California Art Club and the Oil Painters of America.
