We'd like to thank artist and instructor
Vince Fazio for arranging a host family, artists Rick and Carol Gandolfo, for Carl Judson during his recent visit to the Sedona Plein Air Festival. He also arranged for Carl to give a presentation at the
Sedona Arts Center and to judge the Main Street Paint Out and the Heritage Center Quick Draw during the festival. Vince is the director of the School of the Arts at the Sedona Arts Center and is also a teacher there. He is offering a
Drawing Crash Course beginning November 26th. They have ten
plein air workshops scheduled for the spring and fall months of 2013.
The painting above is a 6"x8" (oil on paper) plein air sketch from his
blog, which has a series of beautiful plein air oil-on-paper sketches including several of old abandoned trucks.
"I have been visiting a nearby ‘junkyard’ and historic ghost town. The beautiful side of entropy. Hmmm… come to think of it the Grand Canyon and Sedona are similar themes of erosion and oxidation."
His work encompases not only plein air landscapes, but also large studio works, figurative work and still life.
