Dennis Hare - by Carl Judson

Dennis Hare is a well known west-coast painter, whose plein air and studio paintings have strong roots in the Bay Area Figurative tradition.
His works are being featured at
Westbrook Galleries in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, through the end of October.
Their statement reads in part, "
Dennis Hare's work reflects the soul of things simple, imperfect, humble. Fabrics, scraps of newspapers and other "found objects" sculpted under the surface of the thickly applied oil paint create a palpable work of art in which the materials themselves are something of a symbol for the human experience."
Their site also includes a
video of his work with members of the Boys and Girls Club of Monterey County.

If you are anywhere in the area, this exhibit is a treat worth going out of your way to see. More than 20 years ago (before I quit selling my paintings) Dennis and I both showed our work in the Campbell-Thiebaud Gallery in San Francisco.
